Bridgette, Jialu, Kanishka, and Prof. Dowling (left to right) represent the Dowling Lab at ND Explore STEM. In an interactive activity, we invite visitors to solve a Soduku puzzle. We then show how a computer can use the rules of Sudoku to efficiently compute a solution in <1 second. Finally, talk about the different energy puzzles (optimization problems) our lab solves with algorithms that intelligently use information about the rules (physics).
